DuctSox Designer

A DuctSox System is made up of four parts:
  1. Series - the shape of the DuctSox.
  2. Model - the air is delivered.
  3. Fabric - construct of the DuctSox
  4. Suspension System - how DuctSox are hung.

SERIES
Cylindrical
DuctSox come standard in cylindrical shape and are intended to be suspended and exposed in open ceiling architecture. It is the choice series when there is sufficient ceiling height and clearance from obstructions.

Surface Mount
Either half round (D-Shape) or quarter round shaped - intended to be flush mounted to finished wall and ceiling applications, most common where ceiling height is less than 14'.

MODEL
There are three models of DuctSox that define how the air is dispersed.

Comfort-Flow
Air is delivered through linear vents providing a gentle continuous air flow. Typical applications are high occupancy spaces where emphasis is on optimum air diffusion and mixing, creating comfortable and pleasing environments.

High-Throw
Air is delivered through orifices providing extended distance and jet-type air flow. Typical environments are low occupancy spaces, but can include high occupancy environments if careful consideration is given to factors that affect comfort.

Low-Throw
Air is delivered through porous fabric resulting in reduced air velocities of less than 30 FPM at the DuctSox surface. Low-Throw is ideal for food processing environments where elimination of drafts, uniform air distribution, and secondary air filtration are required.

FABRIC
Porosity
First option is to select either porous or non-porous fabric. Select porous if double wall duct would be used to prevent condensation, non-porous performs similar to single wall metal duct.

Quality
Premium Fabric: includes standard AFD's, inlet cover-up sleeve, standard zippered endcap, aesthetic construction, 10 year warranty and these fabric choices are available surface mount series.
Commercial Fabric: options include a zippered inlet collar, durable construction, standard 5 year warranty and a variety of colors.
Economy Fabric: options offer efficient High-Throw airflow at lower cost.
Specialty Fabric: unique solutions for critical environments such as food processing and/or highly sensitive electronic assembly facilties.
  • Stat-X™ - Air porous / Anti-Static Fabric
  • Microbe-X™ - Air porous / Anti-microbial Fabric (USDA facilities only)

SUSPENSION SYSTEM
The fourth step is to select the type of suspension method that best suits your individual application.

Tension Cable
The lowest cost option - allows simple installation from wall to wall or between supports using a 1/8" cable and tensioning hardware. Components inlcude: turnbuckle, cable clamps, eyebolts, thimbles and intermediate supports and are available in galvanized, stainless steel or plastic coated stainless steel.

3x1 Suspension
New for 2006 - this option combines a simple one row cable suspension with hangers to keep the DuctSox looking inflated without airflow. Limited to 1"-48" diameter, this option is perfect for applications with fittings, as the only change required is the size of hanger to support the DuctSox. Components include standard one row tension cable, 3x1 Hangers and a few added cable support drops. Besides the 3x1 Hangers (powder coated aluminum), other components are available in galvanized or 316 stainless steel.

Suspended H-Track
Great for applications where the system changes direction - or if the system is not mounted directly against the ceiling. "H-Track" is an anodized aluminum track suspension system that includes 10 ft sections of track, cable support drops with "Gripple" quick connections (2 per 10 ft section), couplers, radius track sections and misc. finish components. Besides the track, other components are available in galvanized or 316 stainless steel.

D-Shape
Designed to be mounted directly to a surface - this suspension option is most commonly used for surface mount systems - or low ceiling areas to elevate the DuctSox system as much as possible. Components include 8 ft sections of anodized aluminum track, couplers and misc. finishing hardware. Custom "T-bar" clips are also available to accomodate usage with standard "T-bar" ceiling grids.
