| Just six years after the city of Raleigh, N.C., constructed the Pullen Aquatic center, it was forced to remove completely the facility's stainless steel ceiling ducts because rust flakes were falling from the corroding units. The city replaced the old network of ducts with DuctSox fabric ceiling ducts, featuring a porous polyester fabric construction that is unaffected by the pool chemicals in the air. The center installed two units (both 50 inches in diameter and 161 feet in length) that each diffuse 25,000 cfm through fabric and 1/2 inch wide linear mesh vents. |
